AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: Significant Changes
I have made a few decisions which I would like to tell. So, let’s immediately get down to the nitty gritty this time. The Space Between Us has served me well as a place to share ideas, feelings, news and work in the past. But I am not sure if I want to continue like this. To be honest, I actually don’t want to. TSBU will undergo significant changes within the upcoming months. I have put a small list together, just to mention the most important things we will have to get used to ;-):

  • No more personal content
  • Personal stuff about me will be moved to another site
  • TSBU gets a new purpose of being
  • TSBU will become a platform for something like an online-portfolio
  • No more blog entries on the mainpage (these will be moved to the other site as well)
  • TSBU will probably have some flash included
  • TSBU shall get something like a corporate identity

So if you are now wondering why I am looking for such an alteration, the only reason I can give you is that I don’t want to have my personal stuff (news of my life, emotions, feelings etc.) to be available for everyone anymore. I will continue to run a blog, which I will also try to update more frequently, but I won’t make the address public. This is currently all the information I can give you about the future, since I am not sure how everything will develope.

To bring some good news into this post, I can happily announce that we have continued developement on this. Cheers and see you soon. I love you all!

Buon giorno! The smell of something new is in the air...! Had enough of cold mountains? Here is the new design for everyone who did not have a satisfying summer (and for everyone else who likes a chilling atmosphere). Redesigning took mostly place with CSS again, although I made a few unimportant markup changes. You shouldn’t notice them actually. To tell the truth, the old design was a lil’ bit a thorn in my side, since we have summer and not some frosty winter days ;-). Of course I kept the old lay-out online, as always. I think there is nothing left to add than a small warning: the background image may slightly change in near future, but that’s all. Reasons follow when the changes have been made (it’s not sure that there actually will be any, so nevermind).

Despite the fact that I have finished this new design, I also continued with working on the fiona website. I am looking forward to the announcement when it’s finished, but this may still take a few weeks, since I have to clear up some last obscurities with the lead singer. Alrighty then, I wish everyone a nice time - see you soon, at the next update here on thespacebetweenus.com :-)

...straight forward into future! Back into life, equipped with happyness, fun and party I feel myself being there where I belong :). Apart from the driving school (which is on the hand quite interesting, on the other hand a lil bit annyoing because of the teacher ;)) in the federal military forces, I enjoy life more than I ever did before. Maybe its because the so called "basic training" is finally over. So after I come home from "school" (where I will hopefully obtain the driving license for trucks for free), I dive into a pool full of new emotions, friends, action and expectations for the future. Although it is still half a year until I move to Graz for studying Software Engineering and Knowledge Management, I have already many plans, thoughts and imaginations :). My current occupations are still hanging out with friends, playing a little bit World of Warcraft (there is not much time for computer stuff a.t.m), playing with my new little toy and trying to find out what my life will be after the military.

There is just little time for thespacebetweenus and other webstuff, I can hardly even manage to maintain the sites....the only thing I am currently in is a new site for a band called "Fiona"...but more news concerning Fiona will follow soon...

So long, I wish everyone a nice summer and may you enjoy the time as much as I do!

If you drew my love of life on a diagram, then you would reach the very bottom where it says "ZERO". The federal military forces are the most depressing thing I have ever came across in my life. Do this, do that - is all I hear the whole day. Apart from the fact that all the orders are completely senseless, I feel very alone and desolate. Currently I am not allowed to go home during the week, so you have to sleep in their awfully cold beds. Not allowed to go home also means no time for webstuff. I can only check my mails once a week, but I hope the whole situation will improve in near future (at least, I can’t imagine that things can become worse). Additionally you are completely isolated in there. I heard from the terror attacks in London on Friday by coicidience. At this point I don’t really know what to say about this...I feel with you of course.

What else can I say? Life is like a rollercoaster. At the moment I feel a non-stop downhill.

Btw, I know there is not much going on here at the moment. As already mentioned it is mainly because of the lack of time, but also because I don’t have my computer up and running. A lightning damaged most of the hardware of my PC, but I have my new chips already at home. As soon as I have more time, I will build it all together and I will be hopefully equipped with all my private code stuff again.

So long,

Hi there =) Did you expect a new design that soon? Well, I did not. Ideas and motivation came over me just like an avalanche. This new style is not just only a new style, no it’s also a new template. I restructured some of the content, for example the contact page is now a single one with the "about" page. Furthermore, I would like to introduce a completely new idea. The worklog. Whenever I finish a new site, a linkbutton, a siggie, an image or whatever, I will post this in the new Wlog. I am in a hurry right now, I have some other important things to do - unfortunately. I will finish the entire site tomorrow, when more news will follow :). Until then, please don’t complain about code errors, especially the HTML validity. You can of course leave me a message on the board, I am happy about every new entry ;)

Since the new site is coming this summer, I started writing the first code and creating the blueprints for my design. Although there is not much time a.t.m, it just feels good to sit behind some code again :). Btw I decided to delete the lower pic of the about page, since it did not represent my current look in any way (and the other one is outdated too).

Unfortunately the new site is not the only thing I am preparing...7 days to go until my final exam. Flurry and other mindbending thoughts are becoming more intensive every day, but I guess this is "just" a normal part of the whole process :D

This will be my last post before the exam, and I hope the next blog entry will be a SUCCESS-story! Letz see what the future brings, I am more anxious to the next post than you, believe me :)

Thats it again, if you wanna see some new stuff you can check my recent deviations over at mas.deviantart.com. Please wish me luck!

So now we just hopped over from the one holidays to the others =) Happy Easter! I received some emails with questions whats going on and why everything is dead on my website. The reason is that this is the busiest time in my life I ever had. I really haven’t made any comparable experiences in the past what belongs to stress and stuff. So I just wanted to say that I am still alive...somehow at least and that I have new thespacebetweenus plans - but I can not say when I start coding on it.

Anyhow I wish everyone a peaceful time, I hope my next update will be before my final examination this year :-(.

Wish me luck - I love you all!

This time, I am blogging from the hotel, here in snowy St. Michael. I am on vacation, together with my family, and it feels great to finally have some spare time. I had the presentation of my final examination project 2 days ago, and I think I can say that everything went quite ok. Still, I am so damn happy that everything is over now. World of Warcraft is also finally out, and this makes the holidays just much more cooler. We (here in Austria) have one week off, for "celebrating" the end of the first semester, if you wonder about the title of this entry. Btw, the GNC3 project still has not launched yet, because otherwhise I would have posted it here of course. But the wheels are turning, I promise...(Oh and I also finished another website for a client, but I still have not finished my webportfolio, so....nevermind)

Well, I guess there is not more to say this time, all I do is having fun with friends and partying. You should do so too =)

Have a nice winter, and please come back here soon!

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: A Happy New Year! / Some News
I wish everyone a happy and successful 2005! May all your dreams, wishes and plans become reality!
Well, I think I can say that 2004 was at least a successful year for me. School went right, I finished some projects aaaand I started too much ;-). That pisses me off, because I have way too much unfinished websites laying around on my harddisk. So one plan for 05 is definitely to finish at least 50% of this stuff. Other plans are for example, to create another stylesheet for thespace, to learn how to play guitar or to finish school this year. Of course I will keep you updated if there are new plans, or if there are any finished tasks.

Apart from the big boom tonight, I just wanted to tell you that the CREATIVE CSS CONTEST project is really not far away of being launched anymore. You know, that is the disadvantage of comunity-projects, the development can be so slow sometimes. But I promise, I will post any news concerning the C3 here.

Btw, I finally received my second TFT monitor. All I can say is that I highly recommend working with two screens :-).

Finally, I would like to add, that there are many many people who need help right now. There are so many sites in the internet where you can donate to the Tsunami survivors, please help and give as much as you can.

At this point I say goodbye for now, see you in 2005! Thanks for your support during the year - I appreciate every single comment so much!

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: new stylesheet
Yes, with a short delay of just a few months :-D the new stylesheet has arrived. Although I was quite fast this time, I was too busy to finish everything until now. A few words about the new sheet: I have always wanted something blue and something red. I think the result shows a nice mix between the colors, and additionally, it loads quite fast, as always (at least I hope so). However, I am not sure what to say about the current navigation. Is it too simple? Does it fit to the style? Mhmmm....gotta think about that. Maybe I will change the nav in near future.

Apart from the new look, I have also changed some contents of the site. As you can see, I have added a few pics to my portfolio, but what you can not see is that everything validates now (finally!). There was one bug on the about page which I was not able to fix. Thanks to an interesting dream I had last night, I got a solution. Strange, isn’t it? I am dreaming about code...Further, I have added titles to the links of the navigationbar (which should make the site more accessible - especially for screen readers...but I have to test that first, though), added one band to my favourites which are listed on the about page, and I have put the worn sheet back up.

What else can I say? Nothing - I know fresh content has become rare but what shall I do - school stresses me more than ever before.
Don’t forget, I love you all!

Peace,

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: what I did, what I did not and what else...?
summer is overMuuuuuuuuch time has passed since my last update. Shame over me! My beautiful summer holidays are over and now I am here without a new stylesheet? Wait, let’s have a look at THE list once again:

  • Finishing my current webstuff
  • Creating another stylesheet for this site
  • Probably I won’t start designing a winamp-skin :-P
  • Continuing relaxing and partying (yeah!)
  • Getting Wireless Lan and posting my future blog entries from the garden =)
  • Hey but I created a new sig
  • I also added several links to lonesomeend.com
  • I contributed in the GN C3 project
  • and I created several websites for clients...

...which will be shown as soon as I have finished my webportfolio. Ok, so the most important goal remains open...however....I started it at least. But after I started working for a new company I just didn’t have time for thespacebetweenus and stuff :-( Now school is here again, I am in the final year and I am not sure how much spare time I will have left to update this site and to finish the promised stylesheet. You know I would love to. Thespacebetweenus.com is a part of my life and I really care for this one. I will try to be more active in the future.

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: it’s time to work
Yay, summer holidays, and more work than ever before. I have to create another two websites for two different companies (hardcore this time, it’s really not just about webdesign, they want you to do a lot of hardcore server- and clientsidescripting too...oh well, enough hard work to do), while I still work at this electricity shareholding company. I can feel that some of my mentioned summer plans won’t become real, I mostly worry about the winamp skin. I definitely plan to set up another stylesheet so you can expect it this summer for sure.

In the past week, I received several e-mails with questions in it, where the worn stylesheet has gone. Well, it’s not completely unavailable, you still can click the link in my news entry #57. It has been removed from the sidebar, though. The next style will be up in near future, and will be available on the front-page again, I promise ;-).

Btw, I would like do add that you should always check the sidebar if you can’t find a new entry in the newsscript. I sometimes post interesting articles there which I found somewhere in the web. Quick news can also be found on the bar. I also think about adding 3 random links from the lonesomeend.com linkdatabase (which is still growing, btw).
So, this is the current situation, stay tuned and remember:

I ♥ you all.

Hot summer, hot girl(s), hot beer, hot software. School ended, work began. Like always. OK, I am working on some webstuff currently (like always) and I can’t wait to publish the first results. But wait, there is some small work I can show you: I helped a good friend of mine a bit with his website for one of the neatest, sweetest applications I have ever seen. Go to SmartTab.org (have a look at the sidebar on your right) and check it out.
Sooo I think its time for my annual summer plans, isn’t it?

  • Finishing my current webstuff
  • Creating another stylesheet for this site
  • Probably start designing a winamp-skin
  • Continuing relaxing and partying (yeah!)
  • Getting Wireless Lan and posting my future blog entries from the garden =)

I hope I can finish some of the things I have mentioned above since my life has become very busy and exciting in the past weeks. This is also why I still have NOT made the worn design compatible with the 800*600 resolution. I promise I will do it...I know I am a lazy slacker sometimes.

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: I have fun styling
Alrighty then. Here is the 3rd visual style for thespacebetweenus.com. Although I am quite happy with the markup of my site (because it has great possibilites to get styled), I made some minor changes which you wont see. The style itself is not finished yet, because it still looks quite odd on some parts. Nevermind, I will try to find a nice solution, and oh, I have still one div unstyled ;-) . Yeah, I don’t think that it will be necessary to change much more of thespacebetweenus’ markup, because it works very fine at the moment. All I will do in future is probably just creating new CSS for the site. Oh btw, if you browse with a screen resolution like 800*600, please be patient. The new stylesheet does NEARLY work with the low resolution. I will try to get that fixed as soon as possible. If you have any suggestions for visual improvements, please be so kind and let me know either on the board or on the contact page. Thanks.

As you might have noticed, I have also expanded the sidebar a bit. It gives you now the option to search this site via google. I am also thinking about installing my own search engine, letz see how much time I will have to do so.
Well, I don’t think that there is much more to say right now, but I will keep you updated as always ;-).

Since we have a long weekend over here in Austria, I had some time to create another Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne - map.
Midway: In the dark and dangerous forests are just a few goldmines left. Now the dwarfs stopped exporting the gold from this area, but no one knows why...
As always, you can grab it on the Warcraft III page.

As you probably have already noticed (just look at the sidebar...), there is a new report. But be warned: This one is not objective. It is partly a propaganda, but for a good thing, believe me ;-). Note: The current report may be changed a bit in the upcoming days, so don’t wonder.

What I would also like to mention, is that I have made a big step in administration coding. Thespacebetweenus.com - administration has been updated with a few new features, which make it easier for me to change and update past entries. Just wanted to inform you what’s going on behind the scenes. (Btw, this is why I had a few errors up here in the past weeks. I apologize.) Okidoki, I think that’s it again, remember: I love you all.

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: New Warcraft III Map / .htaccess - what a nifty toy
I am proud to announce that I have just finished my 4th Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne map:
Cold Mountain: One valley goes through the mystic cold-mountain range. The big river in it which makes the battlefield just much more horrible, holds the last gold mines in this area, but also the forgotten creatures. Try to find some allies high up in the mountains.
You can download this one, and all my other maps on the Warcraft III report-page. Have fun playing, and post your critiques and comments on the board, if there are any.

Last week, I finally applied a .htaccess rewrite rule on my portfolio site. Forget these stupid thespacebetweenus.com/portfolio/showimage.php?php_id2=6 urls, the new easy urls are simply the name of the image. Example: portfolio.thespacebetweenus.com/page6. Hail to the .htaccess rewrite engine!

Finally back from my 7-day trip to France. The whole journey was just fantastic. I saw a lot, I learned a lot...this is how it should be. Apart from a few tennis matches, french beer and hot french girls we were also lucky to see the training of the Grand Prix of Monte Carlo....THAT was awesome (it is not what you see...but that what you hear). Maybe I will add some more pics to the sidebar, so have a look at it in the next days.
Ok, that was a short summary about the journey to France. I could write a few pages about it, but at the moment I am way too busy with updating some sites and other webstuff...

By speaking about webstuff: I promised some cookies and so HERE THEY ARE. A new stylesheet (link is on the sidebar) with an interesting new look. I can't say that it looks fantastic or so, since I am also not completely used to it yet. I have a third style in plan, which will be blue-colored. But for now, have fun with the new COCO style. One or two improvements are still to come, so keep watching thespacebetweenus.com. Thx so far, that's it again. As always, I am sure that I have skipped something important...

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: 18 years and stuff
I forgot to post something about my birthday yesterday, but I feel obliged to catch up on everything. Since yesterday, I am 18 years old. I don't know what that means in your country, but here in Austria you are pretty much of full age now. I have thought of all that a little bit, and I have came to the conclusion that it has more disadvantages than advantages. Ok, I have all rights, so I could do what I want all the time. But I have much more duties now, since I am a full aged citizen. I won't go into any details, since this is just boring law-stuff. Or even better - let's skip all these birthday things, and hop over to some internet related news ;-)

The BIG news first. My online comunity passed two milestones this weekend. Just have a look at the following two links, and you will see new, well designed, great and open places where I love to hang around. Tadaaaaa here they are:

Btw, a new report might also come up soon, I am working on it currently. Anything else? mhmm......I think I should write more entries instead of too long ones. So let me end this one right here.
I love you all!

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: busy as a bee
I know the site has still some bugs. Gimme' time!
I miss the summer holidays! Not the summer, but the feeling of freedom and being released from school. I have been very busy in the past weeks, and I am afraid this won't change in the upcoming week, so don't expect too many updates. But you could always have a look at the sidebar, because as you have maybe already seen, it changes more often than the blog entries. I will try to post interesting links and other news which I think are worth to mention.

A new stylesheet? Well, now you may probably expect a new color or a completely new design, like on the custom_shell. Not yet, I will try to code a new CSS design as soon as I have sufficient time, but meanwhile you will have to be satisfied with a stylesheet that lets you change the font-family. Better than nothing, isn't it? Btw this time, I will finally embed the PHP styleswitcher.

Portfolio? Yes, this page is still active and gets updated whenever a new image is out. I have also thought of merging the history and the portfolio page together, since they are both part of my portfolio but split on two different pages...and that could create some unwanted confusion.

Favicon, anyone? After 3 years of thespacebetweenus, I finally added a favicon...don't ask me why I have waited so long, since this is just a work of 5 minutes. It probably doesn't work in Internet Explorer yet, but this should be changed within the next days. If you are using another browser, try F5 or ctrl+F5 for a complete refresh. The favicon icon should appear somewhere on your address bar / favourites folder.

So you see, I really have lots of ideas and plans, but it takes time to realize them. Time has become a rareness in my life, and if that won't change in near future, I will go bananas! Btw, the past blog entry was #50 so this is some sort of semi-jubilee ;-).
Thank you to everyone who has supported thespacebetweenus.com and its big network in the past years. I really appreciate your comments, suggestions and reads.

Have a nice time,

Hello, fellow reader. By reading this text, you should have recognized that something has changed. If you are here for the first time, then its ok. Otherwise, press the F5 button and see. Since I always had certain reasons for the new designs, I decided to let you know the current ones too. The new tasty flow(er) pow(er)-look just catched my eye, and I just wanted something red-ish on my site. If you dislike this one...no problem. Have a look at the side bar, there you can access the old "custom_shell" without any limitations. I liked it too, and there was nothing wrong with it. I just wanted to give thespacebetweenus a new look. Thats all. Here are the new features:

  • CSS-image-rollovers (no preload needed)
  • navigation stays current
  • the archive has been replaced with a quick browser on the sidebar
  • ^^^same thing for the reports
  • RSS feed coming up
  • quick news on the sidebar

PLease don't rely on the validation yet, there are still some bugs on a few pages. I will try to fix that as soon as possible.
Alrighty then, I am bit stressed, so I have to quit this update for now. You will see and read more from me soon. Comments, suggestions etc. go on the board. Thank you for your support(what a rhyme),

Dear readers,
This time I would like to inform you about a special case: A good friend of mine, who contributed a lot to a comunity I am in, gets punished for something that you might not imagine. Fortunately some great guys started this campaign, and luckily, it already reached the well known magazine slashdot.
Please visit www.justice4pat.com NOW and please read through the site. Any help you can give him is VERY MUCH appreciated, believe me. The more you can spread this campaign, the better.
Thank you for helping

Since I haven't posted any news for a pretty long time, I think it is time to give you some updates:
I am working a lot lately, school keeps me definately too busy! But no worries, you will see something new from me VERY soon. Please come back to this site, for a new update.

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: finally some spare-time :-) / Warcraft news
Since friday school is more or less over, and that was about time, believe me. This term went pretty good this time. I got the best marks ever, so I am personally pretty much satisfied with myself. Okay, let's drift away from school, I don't want to hear anything about it in the upcoming week.
Here are some much more interesting news: lonesomeend.com is growing nicely. There is still so much work left, and I can not promise that I will be able to get it done in the next days, since there is some other webdesign work to do. But what I would like to mention is, that we are looking for some help. We simply need some more links. Thank you.

So now about the warcraft news: A NEW MAP (for Warcraft III - The Frozen Throne) is available for download (for free of course), it is called
"STAMPEDE" - The trees roots nourish on the bloody water of these fallow lands. Gold is rare so rush to the middle.
So yeah, I am playing Warcraft again, and I got a new account: "polo_barrel-keg" on Northrend. If you play on another gateway, then its still my old account, "mr.mas". However, I am still open for some games, so please do not hesitate to contact me, if you wanna play a bit.
Did I already mention that I can not wait for World of Warcraft to come out? The beta sign-ups went online this week, and damn, I can't wait any longer to play this great game. I think I will get an Orc-Shamane or something like that...maybe also a Paladin or a Warrior.
So that's about it. I love Warcraft and I am sure that I have forgotten something important in this blog entry, but I can not remeber right now...You will hear from me again soon, so stay tuned.

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: NEW PROJECT FINISHED / stressful time
oh well after hours of work, I am proud to present you my newest project: WWW.LONESOMEEND.COM - the lonesome end of the web
What is it? - To put it simply, it's a linkdatabase powered by PHP and MySQL. I created this site, because I liked the domain name and I didn't know what to put up on it at first. After browsing my favourites, I became the idea of a linkdatabase. Read more. What is very important is the contribute link over there. I would really appreciate it, if you would be so kind and have a look on it. I give to option to let people add links to my database, and this is why I created this page with a "request" form. At the moment the DB hasn't many links yet, but I want to expand it very much in this year.
Btw, blacknight and mejokim are helping me with adding some links, and it might be possible that one of them replies to a request e-mail. If you have any more questions concerning lonesomeend, feel free to ask. If not, go over and browse the db ;-)

Further, there is still one more unfinished project outstanding, but I will let you know when this one is finished. But at the moment, I am having a stressful time. The little spare time I have do I mostly spend with playing the new Warcraft III - The Frozen Throne map, or improving lonesomeend.com. The problem is as always the school: I have just too much exams, but fortunately there is just one more (big one) in front of me. Wish me luck.

Did I already mention that elysiumart.org soon has it's first birthday? I would recommend to visit it a bit more often in the upcoming days, since I am planning a little surprise :-D (I know that the forum is dead, but let's hope that it will get better again)
That's it again, I just wanted to add that I am thankful for all the visitors who supported thespacebetweenus.com and its network in the past years. You are all more than friends to me!

THANK YOU!

Btw, I received zeldman's designing with web standards for christmas, and all I can tell you is that it is such a great book. Really totally awesome.
Here are some plans I have for 2004:
  • Finishing my current project
  • Tuning Elysiumart.org and make it become live again
  • Probably redesigning thespacebetweenus
  • Doing all the outstanding webdesign jobs
  • Learning PHP better...still a way to go *sigh*
  • Hoping for a new Tool record to come out :-D
Once again, I wish you all the best for 2004. At the moment I haven't much more to say, since I am in a hurry...there are some news, but I don't got enough time to write about all them now. I will do it soon, I promise :-) cya in 04 -mas

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: Portfolio is Growing / New Stylesheet / more more!
mofo-smallHello, loyal reader of thespacebetweenus! This news-article brings some nice new stuff again:
And here we go! The new, smooth workin' Portfolio page is growing nicely, and I really appreciated all your opinions to my work (please keep commenting!). 2 new pics have been posted, and a 3rd one is waiting for being uploaded to the server (the problem is that it is on one of my school's harddisks...f00)...well my friends and me were bored, so one of them threw the CD cover from Feeder (a really niftay band) in the scanner, and then I played around with it in Photoshop. Check the portfolio page in the upcoming week, it should be already uploaded then.
The new stylesheet:WHY? Since my page looks very awful at school (due to the lack of contrast), I decided to create a stylesheet which offers more contrast...I know it's not much, I was hoping that it would turn out better, so sorry :-( Note that also the font become darker, so I personally recommend this one if you got bad eyes...
MORE MORE: and more! 2 new linkbuttons are here, and remember, if you wanna do some linktrading, contact me! A new sig is also up on the list, damn this one is in my opinion the best I have ever made. A mix between Photoshop and POV-Ray.
The services-page has now been added to the work-page, where I list all of my....WORK. buh.

One more thing: I saw this over at the ozoneasylum, and I thought it would be wort to share. Go to google and type "miserable failure" and see what comes up ;-)
Ok, have a nice x-mas time, I will certainly post one more time before 24th, so see you soon

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: New Portfolio Page / Working all the time
Yesterday evening, a few minutes before I went to bed, I suddenly got a completely new idea. A dynamic new Portfolio site. The old one was, to be honest, CRAP! If I wanted to add a new image, I had to fill in an online formular in my self coded admin section (btw, I also coded a new admin section 2 days ago...very smooth) AND I also had to open the HTML document and add the link with the thumbnail. That was so annyoing. However, this morning I sat behind my PC and started coding and designing the new Portfolio site. 10 hours later, I was about to be finished. I just had to enter the path of the thumbnails into the DB. Now I can finally submit a new image online, and don't have to open any other documents anymore. Weeee!
About the design: It is tableless of course, and completely liquid. If you find any errors, please be so kind and contact me. The design also validates, and is quite userfriendly. So please visit my new Portfolio page and give me comments to my artworks. Thx a lot.

So what about this "working all the time" in the title? Well yeah, I DO WORK ALL THE TIME (I show off...i know that sux ;-)). I will continue working on my portfolio page, because I also want to show my past interfaces over there. And I also worked all the time, since I got a new sort of archive for you. Grunge. Heh.
Any other news? mhmm, I did another sig and...hey, did I already show you this interface? I hope not. Else, nevermind. Oh, I forgot to add something in the last news update. I created a new linkbutton. Feel free to use it!

Cheers

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: Lots of Nice New Stuff
Now it has been several weeks since the last update, so sorry for the delay. But therefore I bring you lots of nice new stuff.
First of all, I have finally finished my new report! Go, check it out, it's worth a read ;-) My new Warcraft III map has also been put online (The Frozen Throne is required), please also check the report for more information.
Further, I also got a webcam. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get things working online yet, but after this has been done, I will drop a note over here.
Ok, now let's handle a different issue: POV-Ray. Yes, I have done some animations again, in POV-Ray of course. Since .gif files just weren't right for publishing these animations because of the filesize, I thought of animating them in flash. You can check them on ...us.com/flash/ellipsoids. Click on the HTML files there to view them. Comments would be nice, so if you would be so kind and give me some, please do that on the board.

Webhosting, anyone? My brother and I have put up a hosting service called wickedidodai - webhosting. If you are interested, don't hesitate to contact us. The e-mail is shown over at the page

Now aren't these lots of great news this time? Dont' worry, it continues ;-).
Sigs. I am not stopping creating sigs, so a visit to the sigpage would not be amiss. hehe.
Jeffrey Zeldman has released AListApart's redesign, with 4 new killer stories. I strongly recommend to have a look at the "sliding doors" article, since this one can be pretty useful.
Btw, the forum elysiumart.org is growing slowly but nicely, so if you have not registered yet, you might do it now. We are still looking for some more forum moderators.

Since I am trying to create a new personal logo, comments on this try would be nice!
Ok, I think that was it for now...mhmm...I just feel like addind something very important to the end. I have found this over at the ozoneasylum, please read it, and please think about it:
WOMEN'S PROBLEMS:
MENstrual cramps MENopause MENtal illness MENtal breakdown GUYnecologist HISterectomy

Since I already think that I have forgotten something, I will add it to the next update, or just edit this one, so please come over here more often ;-)

see you around

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: ELYSIUMART V3 is Here / New Siggies / Minor Updates
Hello dear visitor! Long time no see, ey? I am back from many hours of work, and well...the title clears the question in what I spent these hours of work. Elysiumart.org V3 is here! Since we blacknight and me moved to a new database, you will unfortunately have to re-register.
We are happy to bring you a board with more and new features, and we hope that we will have some more nice, easy going and frank discussions about digital art and web-design. Please also note that we are still looking for new mods, and we would be happy about any help you might offer us.

Now something about my new sigs: The current sig-contest over at the asylum is pretty exciting, and so I created 2 new sigs concerning this month's topic, song titles. I hope you enjoy them!

Now some minor updates about some general things of thespacebetweenus and myself. I must say that I still pretty enjoy the current design. So I don't think that I will change it in near future, and if, I have decided to let you know about it before. I have also started to think a bit more of getting in link trades, since they are the source of the "flow" of the internet, and it's users! So please don't hesitate and contact me if you would like to speak with me about a possible textlink exchange.
Ok, that's it for now, I hope that my new report also will get online soon, but I am working on it. The problem is the current school stress, it causes the delay.
Ok, see you soon, I love YOU!

thx.
In further unrelated news, I bring you mah site with my favourite song lyrics and poems. A totally wicked eye-masturbation. There is a php rotator script, which rotates the lyrics when you hit the refresh button(Sorry, not online yet, but I will put it up tomorrow). I am also planning to play a few sounds in flash on the site, I will just have to figure out how the deal with flash at first ;-)
Ok so far, everything is ok in my life too...I hope you are fine too, and please keep reading my blog, since there are really a few very intersting things upcoming...believe me.

The new webspace rocks! Everything seems to be back up and working again. I also added a new blue stylesheet today, but it is more a CSS demonstration than a real useable interface. Please have a look at yourself and feel free to comment it over at the board. I personally think that I coded it way too slappy and fast. There are still too much bugs hiding in the stylesheet. Ok, nevermind, I will fix it anyway, even if everything seems to be completely useable at the moment(anyobdy know the song A - If it ain't broke, fix it anyway? HEHE). Ok folks, you will hear from me soon,

Attention: Thespacebetweenus is moving to a new host at the moment. Many links and function won't work, please be patient, I will let you know when it is all up again.
The new host is Dreamhost, I got the birthday deal, this means that they offer the business account for the price of the lowest account. Pretty good, ey? ;-)

Yah, I am injured. I went out for some basketball, and tried to catch down an enemies pass. Unfortunately the ball hit my finger in a pretty stupid way, and I know I got a tiny ridge in my bone. The other injury just happened 5 min ago. I wanted to cut some suasages-cutted my thumb instead! OWCH! That really hurts! Much more than the bone! But hey, I can still type :-)
Ok, once again, please be patient, I will try to fix things as soon as possible

School, tests, homework, teachers, projects, exams...all that promises a lot of work and stress. However, the classic school stress has already begun. No time for new reports, new POV-Ray things, new sigs, new news, new sites, new projects...My only spare time is in the weekend, and how much I can spend of it with my PC is uncleared for me. I think the best solution might be to wait, and see how things are coming. Please wish me luck and perseverance.

New relatives? Heh, that was acutally a coicidience, when I entered my name in google, it came up with another grumet. Of course I wanted to contact him, and since there are so few grumets out there in the world, he also thought that we might be distantly related. Pretty funny ey? I will keep you updated about the whole story.
Okay, I need some sleep now, cya around.

Aloha, and welcome to a shiny new interface of thespacebetweenus.com! It's called the custom shell, because you have the option to you set your favourite stylesheet again. Reasons about the change, and what's so fine about the new design can be read here.
You might also give me suggestions which colors I should add, so simply drop a note on the board or mail me about it. Thanks, I really would appreciate that.
By the way, I have created a new sig too, you know where it's located; over at the siglist. The link can now be found in the "work" section. However none of the old pages got lost, they are all still up.
Okay, more news are coming soon! Have a nice time!

Oh well....oh well? Oh NO! Summer holidays are over! Tomorrow, school will get me again, and my life will change to a busy, stresful but more "computerful" trip. Since I will spend more time with my PC, you may get to read some more updates, as I hate slacking sites. There is really nothing to add yet, because I have no idea what will be waiting for me this year. Please wish me luck!
Oh, no let us go over to some good, some very good news. My tutorial which I submitted to the Gurusnetwork(see the last news post for more information) has been accepted and approved. From now on, you can find my tutorial right on their tutorial page.

One more thing: Blacknight will hopefully get some spare time too, because he is going to the same school as I do. This means we will maybe do some Elysiumart updates here and there.

Stay tuned!

Hello visitors! After a break of 4 months, I have continued to put my tutorial into the Gurusnetwork shell. And well, thx to Emperor my tutorial is now on the "awaiting approval list" over at the GN. Once it is approved, it will be published there too, as soon as they are up with their new site.
Now, to something different: I just thought that my old linkbutton had a very exaggerated filesize. So this is why I thought of doing a new, simplier one:
thespacebetweenus.com

However, I really would appreciate it, if you would be so kind and replace this one with my old one. Thx a lot.

  • In further news, grumble of embege.com has put up a weblog on his frontpage.
  • Unfortunately I haven't yet received my FM4 Frequency photos, I promise, I will publish them as soon as I get them.
  • If you are waiting for a new report to come, all I can say is, that I already got some plans. Hang on please.

Hey people, I am back from the FM4 Frequency festival - It was great, but unfortunately I haven't scanned any photos yet. I will report about it more, as soon as I got the photos.

multipackOkidoki, I just published a nice multi package of my just finished abstract 3-dimensional wallpaper done in POV-Ray. Comments on it are very appreciated, and you can download the zip-file containing the 3 different color versions here.

Let's hop over to the other topic of this post now. I recently got a very special link about a campaign that supports other browser than Internet Explorer. Since I don't like IE, I have decided to support that campaign. Maybe it's just a trick of some guy to get more hits for his homepage, I don't care because I like this concept. You can find the link on the left on this page. Please support it too, link back to it. It's enough if people already read the sentence on the button.
Okay guys, in unrelated news: My holidays are over soon. Just 2 more weeks, then my hard school time will start again. I will try to enjoy these 2 short weeks as much as possible...enjoy your time too, wheter you got holidays or not. I love you all!

I have finally published my new report about tft-screens, so if you are planning to buy one, you may have a look at it.
Oh and here is finally the stupid little thing....I did this at work because I was so bored.
I have made a new sig too, over at the siglist.

Ok, this is maybe the last update before the festival...cya next week, back at home, with a hangover and nice shots from the bands. Ciao!

Next week, there should be some spare time waiting for me, so that I finally can do some more updates on this page. I am also planning to buy a new tft-sreen/lcd display. I am currently thinking of the LG1710B, a 17" large piece.

Guys, press the F5 key on your keyboard. The styelsheets, the navbar and the complete pages have been updated. As you can see i added a few images to make the page a bit more friendly, and to get rid of the simplistic look. Well, the page is still simple, but the old look was a bit exaggeratedly simple.(Exaggeratedly simple-is that a word? HEH.)
Anything else? Yes, the new Radiohead album is out, and I bought it's special edition. Impressive is not the right expression, I would say that I have found my new favourite album. Give it a shot, its worth a try.
Now, somethimg completely different:
School ended today. Just 2 more weeks to go, but all my marks are fixed, so my vacation starts today; And thats making me feeling sick. The year went that fast..imagine what you have done in this time...I have created 3 interfaces for the space, I think. Thats crazy! I'm gonna stop that ;-). Times passes so fast I think we all don't have enough of it, and the problem is to use as much as possible of it wisely. But now i'm not gonna continue writing silly blas, and philsophy things from which i really don't have a clue of.
Something more: My Warcraft III - map is now available for download.

Thats it for now, i'll keep you updated about everything.

On the top of the content part should show up a some sort of subheader now, If it doesn't, then please press the refresh button of your browser(F5). If have also removed the grey stylesheet and replaced it with a new, olive grennish one. I think i should set it as the new random one, should I? I have found some important articles about cross browser pngs and I have also found a solutin about the current pixeled images. I could put them into a div and then change it's background image with the stylesheets. A pretty nice solution i must say, and well...this would be one solution. I could also make a png and adjust it's semitransparacy with javascript so that it works in every browser.
Or maybe I'm gonna even combine these two ideas? As I got a bit spare time in the following weekend,I will also continue with coding the current design of the portfolio page. Well, see you around, i'm coming up with a few cookies, you will see....

AUTHOR: GRUMET Lukas TOPIC: NEW DESIGN - UP and ready
Hey, long time no see, ey? I am happy to be back, i am happy to have got a new design. As promised, this one isn't that much graphic intensive, and absolutely dynamically. The whole page validates, except the index. But i will fix that tomorrow.
The new section REPORT shows some stuff which i think is worth to mention(most party are critical).BTW, the site was up for a few seconds yesterday, but after i checked it in mozilla, i had to take it down again. I will publish a report about IE very soon, because this really made me angy.
Another new feature is the style-selector, which gives the user the availability to view thespacebetweenus in his favourite colour. The style gets saved via a cookie, so after the user opens the site again, the selected style appears again. Quite a niftay toy.
Please also mention that i updated my sigcollection, I also added a new siggie.
Well that's it so far, all I can add is that the new interface is totally dynamic. Many databases are used where i didn't use some before and so on. I will give some more explanations another time. Now i am off, to kick Internet Explorer's ass. ;)

Right here, i am with new knowledge of designing, and it's just waiting for getting used! Unfortunately I got some ugly problems with school, lately, but nevermind. i will try to find a solution!
This time, something about myself! I personallry think that i got a lot better with designing, even because i know that there is not just the design with BIG images and that's it. No, design is something like Zeldman or Slimeland! Simple design are baeutiful too, and i think a combination between graphic intensive and simplicity is what i am looking for! This is what i just have to code...(i know that i promise a lot about redesigning....).
One more thing: I did a small manip for school today, and the girl i showed it to, told me that i am so great and godlike and so on....! I felt a bit serious about the whole thing. I answered with thank you and thought about the readon WHY did she say this? Is it so easy to impress somebody who does not deal much with computers? I hope so, otherwise I would be quite confused!

Life is dificult, but nevermind! That's not a real problem, is it?

I have also began to play a computer game again...wow, i really missed gaming. At the moment i am playing Warcraft 3 and can't get away from it. Oh, Elysiumart.org has also kept me very busy. You know all these technical updates and functions which are important for a forum.
I am still not finished. I have written a POV-Ray tutorial which is quite successfull and helpful for newcomers. It is called 3 easy steps to an animation in POV-Ray.

At last but not least, i have been to Firenze(Italy) with my school class. We had a nice trip and i made some very amazing photos with my Nikon Coolpix 880. I will upload one of my favourite pics to the gallery, so that it can be reviewed. So, of course, i am not the only one who created photos, so therefore i did a small site with some sightseeing pics up there.bhhgallery.tk is now ready for visiting.
